The recent eleentary Family Fun Night took place on Thursday December 8th at 5:30pm. Roughly 200 people showed up to this event. Family Fun Night took place in the elementary. This event was completely free of charge, and was also open to families of Pre-K to fourth grade students.
A lot of activities and games went on during this night. There were seven different holiday crafts set up for the families to do together and four different stations were put on. The music room held a book walk, the cafeteria had, “Make your own snack mix,” and the library had board games. The person who put on this event was teacher Erin Neal. Neal states, “My favorite part of this whole event was the kids making their own crafts and being creative with them.”
Food/snacks are always provided at Family Fun Nights. In December the snack is always cookies. The sugar cookies were available for for the families to decorate with icing and sprinkles. During this time, Santa showed up and surprised the children. Neal says, “The whole point or goal of these nights is to promote family and community involvement.”
Family Fun Nights have been going on for a while, although they’ve been called by other names. There are three Family Fun Nights held each year. One in each month of October, December, and April. The activities and games that will go on during the April night will have the same general setup as the December month’s. The specifics have not been decided yet, but Neal comments, “It’s going to be exciting and fun!”
