The first annual Mr. Fair Grove Man Pageant was held on February 18th, and was hosted by the Fair Grove Project Graduation, which is a group of senior parents that are in charge of raising money for the activities after graduation.
The man pageant was an event that casted seven seniors; Daniel Terry, Evan Fullerton, Austin Fodge, Dalton Cloyd, Dylan Bates, Cole Clark, and Austin Page were contestants in a pageant that was made up of five different events. First, the contestants competed in the evening wear part of the pageant. During this part of the pageant, contestants put on their finest dresses and walked for the audience while the host, Brad Terry, introduced the participants to the crowd. Dylan Bates said, “I enjoyed the evening wear part of the pageant the most because I really felt that I could show the crowd my natural beauty.”
Following the evening wear portion of the pageant came the talent segment. Contestant, Evan Fullerton, displayed his talents by doing a lip sync to the song “Pour Some Sugar On Me” by the band Def Leppard. Another contestant, Austin Page, who went on to win Mr. Congeniality, put on a beat box performance for the talent show part of the pageant.
While the pageant was an evening full of laughs, overall the main goal of the Man Pageant was to raise money for Project Grad. The show brought in money by charging admissions at the door, which was five dollars per person, as well as selling concessions, and having buckets that the audience could put money in to vote for their favorite contestant. In total the show raised $923.44 towards the main goal of $15,000. Dalton Cloyd won the title of Mr. Fair Grove, and Daniel Terry won People’s Choice. The man pageant was a great success and will for sure be continued in the following years.
