Lady Eagles Junior Varsity Volleyball Wins First in Tournament

On Saturday, October 11th, Fair Grove held the Junior Varsity Volleyball Tournament, with a total of 7 schools competing. The Fair Grove Lady Eagles won first overall in the tournament, having competed against Catholic, Conway, El Dorado Springs, New Covenant Academy, Skyline, and Strafford.

Going into the first game against Skyline, the Fair Grove Lady Eagles won their first set against them, finishing with a score of 25-15. Following that set though, Skyline took the win with a 19-25 win over Fair Grove. Fair Grove played El Dorado Springs during their next game, winning both sets, the first being 25-13 and the second being 25-18.

The third game the Lady Eagles played was against Conway. The Junior Varsity team took the leading win on both sets. The first set ended in a 25-9 score and the following set ended in a 25-14 score. Catholic was the next team Fair Grove played, leading into an end score of 25-17 for the first set and 25-20 for the second set.

The Fair Grove Lady Eagles took a win for both sets over New Covenant Academy, claiming the win with a 25-5 score and a 25-8 score for both sets. Finally, Fair Grove played against Strafford to determine who would take home first. The Lady Eagles went into full swing during their sets against Strafford, ending with a win over both sets, the first with a score of 25-17 and the second with a score of 25-15.

Head coach for the junior varsity volleyball team, Ms. Brannock, said that she was definitely most pleased with the Strafford game and how hard the team played during both sets. “When playing in a tournament, you always hope your team wins; we played really well, and we won,” Brannock said about the tournament overall.

Leading stats for the tournament as a whole concluded with Sierra Anderjaska having a total of 14 aces and 22 kills. Macey Lumley led the team with a total of 30 digs. Taylor Bell finished the tournament with a total of 4 blocks. Matia Hartley also led the team with 94 assists throughout the tournament games.
