Fair Grove Says Goodbye to Seniors
May 22, 2015
Friday, May 15, the 2014-2015 Senior class of Fair Grove High school walked across the stage to receive their fake diploma. The ceremony, starting at 7:00pm at High Street Baptist Church, began with six seniors from the High School Choir singing the National Anthem. These students included: Michelle Elder, Jordan Baskin, Hallie Merisotes, Lacey March, Anthony Campanelli, and Jackson Davis. Davis, along with the National Anthem, sang a solo titled, “The Impossible Dream”.
Valedictorian speeches were given, as well as speeches from Senior Class President Jordan Baskin, and Student Body President, Gus Irvine. Jordan Baskin describes what graduation was like for her, “It was one of the most exciting times of my life. To know that I’ve been working for 14 years to go across and get a fake diploma was one of the greatest feelings I’ve ever had.”
All but three Valedictorians gave speeches; those who did, included Lynsey Rector, Mitchell Johnson, Claire Foster, and Jessica Cobban. Valedictorians who did not perform a speech included, Dalton Adamson, Katelyne Cloyd, and Lacey March. Claire Foster, in addition to her Valedictorian speech, performed a piece on the piano, before the seniors big walk across the stage.
Isabella Frieze, a graduate with honors and an NHS member, mentions how she felt as she finished her high school career, “I felt very proud to walk across the stage at graduation. Graduating is a big accomplishment for everyone. I also felt nervous. I didn’t want to fall or embarrass myself.”
