The Fair Grove Lady Eagles Basketball team officially began their season on November 2nd with after school practices. The Lady Eagles had been preparing for their season before practice began by attending after school weights and open gyms.

Jordan Coddington (10) commented, “To prepare ourselves we do a lot of pressure shooting drills so that we will be mentally and physically ready in a close game.” The Lady Eagles put their hard work to the test in their scrimmage at Fair Grove on Thursday, November 12th. The Lady Eagles also attended a Jamboree held on Friday, November 30th at Bolivar that started at 6pm. The teams who participated in the Jamboree were Fair Grove, Bolivar, and Walnut Grove. The scrimmage and jamboree, along with the shootout they will attend on November 28th in Cabool, will help prepare the Lady Eagles for their first game and tournament.

The Lady Eagles will, according to Coddington, look to seniors Bailey Weaver and Emily Hopkins to lead their team and to set a good example. These leaders will push the team in their first game at their home tournament, which begins November 30th and lasts until December 4th, and also for their entire basketball season. The other seven Seniors will also help to lead the team, but as Alana Findley (9) explains, everyone on the team has helped push one another to do better and to work hard.

Head Coach Jennifer Talbert says they have been preparing for their season to achieve their goal of winning both conference and districts. She also adds that they hope to place in all of the tournaments they participate in.
