December 9th, Fair Grove Elementary, Middle School, and High School all participated in activities to help raise money for Coach Mike Wilson from our rival school, Strafford, he is the Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, and Head Boys Basketball Coach. The elementary had an ugly christmas sweater day, and the middle school and high school both had a hat day to raise money. At the game there was a pass the Bucket which helped contribute to a large amount of the money raised, in total there was $850 raised for Wilson’s family.

The money was given to Coach Wilson to help eliminate some of the financial burden for his, son Derek Wilson, who serves as head boys basketball coach at Galena High School) , and his family which will be facing the expensive treatments, and due to kidney failure last year, he has recently gone through a kidney transplant.

“Strafford is obviously our biggest rival and we hate to lose to each other,” stated Chris Stallings, Fair Grove High School Principal, “they are the maroon school and we are the purple school but at the end of the day our coaches and administrators have a lot of close friendships with their coaches and administrators. Coach Wilson is a great guy. We wanted to send the message to him that we care about him as well as just demonstrating what good sportsmanship looks like for our student body.”
