4-H STUDENTS WIN Multiple CHAMPIONSHIPS

There are two students in Fair Grove High School who take a different spin on the combination of work and play. After school lets out, Seiler Johnson (12), and Autumn Wilson (11), both head to the range to practice up on their shot. Each of them shoot a wide variety of guns at still standing targets along with moving targets, and each of the do very well at it. Competing in multiple competitions each, these ladies add a new hobby to the list.
Seiler Johnson has had a busy senior year already despite the fact that this is her 4th year heading to Nationals for Missouri 4-H Club. She competes in competitions for both 4-H and YHEC.

4-H is a national non-profit organization that holds competitions anywhere from identification of animals to Air Pistol. There are multiple categories of shooting that are available for competition but Seiler has competed in Air Pistol, Smallbore Pistol, and Muzzleloader. She received 1st place in the Muzzleloader tryouts and will be heading to Nationals in June.

YHEC is the Youth Hunter Education Challenge. There is a series of competitions such as: .22 Rifle, Muzzleloader, Shotgun, Archery, Wildlife ID, Hunter Safety Trail, Compass, and Hunter Knowledge Test. Seiler comments on her past endeavors, “I have competed since I was 11, and I have gone to Nationals 3 times… It’s a really good learning experience and I have made a lot of friends from all over the nation in both 4-H and YHEC.”

Autumn Wilson also spends her time shooting for Missouri’s 4-H club. She shoots a 12 gauge Blaser F3 Super Skeet Over and Under shotgun at strategically moving sporting clays. Autumn competes in three different categories: Skeet, Trap, and Competitive Sporting Clays. The competition consists of 25 sporting clays slug into the air at shooter’s command, coming from different directions, and the shooter to break the most clays wins the competition.
Autumn states, “Sometimes I compete for money or awards, I won a huge trophy for shooting clays.” Autumn is the first girl to make it on the 4-H shooting team and hopes to continue to do well in Nationals.
