In the Fair Grove High School the 2015-2016 school is coming to a close. With the school year coming to close, that means there will be exciting things in the future. Some of the exciting things are sophomores and juniors becoming officers of some of the clubs that Fair Grove offers.

The National Honor Society is taking in all new upcoming senior officers for the 2016-2017 school year. The President of Business is in charge of the Eagle’s Nest, a morning and afternoon snack business in the high school is Leah Wahlquist, and the two Vice Presidents are Courtney Deeds, Lauren Nimmo. Some of the duties of the President and Vice Presidents of Business are that they will work on ways to promote the Nest and expand their products. The President of Service Projects is Renata Suciu, the Vice President are Macy Lumley and Courtney Patten. The thing  that the President and the Vice Presidents of Service Projects do are will work to enlarge our activities and increase student participation.  They will talk with local organizations to find new projects to participate in. “ I am very excited for that being an officer because I feel like it is a better way to show my affection towards different projects that  I am passionate about.” explains Patten. The Executive Committee consist of  Mikayla Yount, Korrie Buckman, Colbie Covert. They will be in charge of the Induction Ceremony, planning fun activities, recognizing leaders in the school and rewarding members that complete their service hours. The Secretary, Victoria Fishback, will keep record of service hours, make record of meetings, and work with other officers to complete their duties.

Future Teachers of America (FTA) is an organization for students that would like to pursue a career in teaching of some sort. The sponsors of FTA are Nicole Kissling, and Beth Mauldin. One of Mauldin’s favorite thing about sponsoring FTA is the Parent’s Night Out. “ I absolutely love this event because I get to see a whole different side of the teens in FTA. We also laugh and joke a lot, and if we can stay in the gym after the little ones are gone.” Mauldin also commented that she is excited to go to a college visit next year with all the kids. There aren’t any new officers yet for FTA.

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) elected new officers for the 2016-2017 school year. The President is Hannah Fox (11), Secretary is Alexis Vickery (11), and the Activity Chair is Erin Kirkpatrick (9). The Activity Chair is in charge of planning activities and organizing events that the members can partake in. “ Someone should join FCCLA because there are several opportunities for students to get involved in. Some are to improve their leadership skills, expand their job skills, and help out their community.”, explains Darci Friberg, the sponsor of FCCLA.

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a national organization for business students who are preparing for careers in business or business education, and they also inducted FBLA members for new positions as officers.  The President is Leah Wahlquist (11), the Vice President is Autumn Wilson (11), the Secretary is Taylor Bell (10), Kelsey Brunkhorst(11) is the Treasurer, Maegan Holland (11) is the Parliamentarian, Carter Crews (11) Reporter/Historian, and Stewart Hopkins (10) is the Faux Officer. The sponsors are are Sandra Robinson and Cayse Overstreet. “ My favorite thing about being one of FBLA’s  sponsors is seeing students rise above their comfort level and succeeding, growing and using what they learned for their future.” explains Robinson.

It is fair to say that these new officers now have a huge responsibility now, and also have to fill in some big shoes, but there is no doubt that they will do great. Be sure next year that you join some new clubs for the 2016- 2017 school year to meet new people and have fun in high school.
