The Fair Grove 2016-2017 football team has set multiple records over the course of their season. Bill Voorhis, Fair Grove’s head coach, states that five players have broken at least one or even several records. Senior, Brayden Lumley broke three records this season; passing yards in a game (184 yards) vs Pleasant Hope, (2016) passing yards in a season (1,346 yards) (2016), and passing yards in a career (3,108 yards) (2013-2016). “We as a team broke so many records and achieved a lot of the goals we strived to get. It was so much fun and a blessing to be a part of,” Lumley states.
Evan Fullerton (12) has only been playing on the high school football team for two years. Fullerton broke the record for receiving touchdowns in a season with eight in the 2016 season. Isaac Mauldin also broke the record for receiving yards in a season (598 yards).
Seniors, Anthony Guynn and Dalton Cloyd are also going out with a bang. Guynn breaking three records and Cloyd breaking four. Guynn broke field goals made in a season with five (2016). In a game against Fair Grove’s rival school, Strafford, Guynn broke the record for field goals made in a game with two (2016). Guynn also achieved a personal record of five field goals in his career (2013-2016).
Cloyd broke two records of kickoff returns for touchdowns in a season (2016) and his career (2013-2016). In a regular season game (2016) against Springfield Catholic High School, Cloyd had a record breaking 21 tackles and finishing with 1,024 receiving yards in a career (2013-2016) Brayden states that overall he thought the team played well. But a lot of the accomplishments they achieved came from the support of everyone on the team. “It was an honor to break records. But we honestly couldn’t have done it without the efforts of our teammates and the coaches. It feels good to know that our hard work paid off.”
