Sliding Into Districts
April 30, 2021
After missing out on most of their season due to COVID-19 during the 2020 school year, the Fair Grove High School Baseball team is getting back into the swing of things and moving forward into districts.
Chrisian Overstreet, Athletic Director and baseball coach said, “We are off to a really good start this season. Our guys are very excited to get back to playing after missing last spring. We have played a really tough schedule and our guys have competed very well.”
“Our district is very tough from top to bottom. We know going into it that we will have to play our best baseball to win it,” Overstreet continued.
Districts will begin on May 15th at Fair Grove and what the outcome is will determine when the following games will be played. In their district this year are Skyline, Stockton, Pleasant Hope, Conway and El Dorado Springs.
Almost every season comes with a loss of players and a change in the game. Luckily with this year, Christian Overstreet stated, “We will not be much different because we are only losing one senior, Tanner Lumley. Tanner is a great leader for us. He will not be an easy player to replace.”
With missing a full year, there are a lot of changes and new things to think about this year as a coach that will play into the next school year as well.
Overstreet stated, “There were some question marks coming into the season because we were not able to play last year. We have had a few injuries to start the year. These injuries have shuffled up some of our lineups, especially defensively. I am lucky to have a group of guys who are willing to play any position so it has worked out really well.”
