Festive Family Fun For Everyone!
December 9, 2021
Fair Grove is giving back to the community by hosting a ‘Winter Family Fun Night’ on December 16th from 5:00 to 6:30 pm in the Elementary.
This year’s winter family fun night is being sponsored by their Title 1 department, parents, and teachers. Fair Grove Elementary hosts 3 family fun nights per year. Additionally Cara Kennard who works in Reading Recovery down at the Elementary explained, “the winter one is personally my favorite.”
There are going to be several different activities going on throughout the course of the night. Some of those activities being, cookie decorating that will be going on in the cafeteria. There will also be a sock hop in the gym, and they will be playing Christmas music. There are going to be lots of Christmas story readings, games, and lastly there will be a snowflake designing and making activity in the library.
Lots of people have to come together in order for this event to happen. One of those people being Cara Kennard. Kennard explained, “As part of the Title department in the elementary, I usually have a big part in planning the activities for family nights. I help gather all the supplies needed and organize everything before it begins. I also stay to visit with families and help with the crafts and snacks, and help to clean up afterward.” Another person who helps out in the mix of all of this is Dr. Charity Hollan, the principal of The Fair Grove Elementary.
Now the reasoning behind the Winter Family Fun Night is pretty simple, as explained by Kennard. Kennard shared, “The reason we have family fun nights is because we want to partner with families to create a positive school experience for kids. Families are so busy these days, and this night will provide an opportunity for families to just have fun together.”
Not only is this a fun and memorable night for the parents and children it also brings light to the teachers around helping out. Kennard expressed that by saying, “I am looking forward to family fun night because I love seeing how happy the kids are to get to bring their families to school and spend quality time together! I also look forward to visiting with the families of my students and getting to know them even better.”
Everyone that wants to participate is invited to this event. It is a great opportunity to get to know your students’ teachers better and to begin to lift your Christmas spirits while also getting to spend time with your kids. Dr. Hollan exclaimed, “We hope everyone in the elementary school will attend! It is a fun night for all!”
