Shooting for Success
January 25, 2022
The high school boys basketball team at Fair Grove has had a 8-7 record thus far in the season (8 wins, 7 loses).
With a little under two months left in the basketball season, head coach Bryan Tucker, Logan Daniels (12), and Devin Carroll (12) shared an updated insight on the team this year, along with the values of the sport.
This is Tucker’s first season back as the head basketball coach at Fair Grove. Tucker expressed, “I have really enjoyed being back. Being able to take my kids to school and living in the community that I love is icing on the cake.”
Tucker believes that the team has played well throughout the season, despite challenges the team has faced. Tucker explained, “Our schedule is very tough, which we feel will prepare us well for our conference and district opponents.”
Tucker added, “Our goal is to get better every day. We hope to be playing our best basketball at the end of the season. Obviously, beating Strafford and winning a district title are a few of our goals as well.” Tucker shared that he loves how the team has been competing.
Along with coach Tucker, Carroll shared his goals for the team. “I think the main goal we all have this year is to win a district championship and hopefully try and make a run late in the season. We want to be playing our best basketball in February and March so that our team will be ready for districts.” Carroll is a 6’3 starting point guard for the Eagles.
Daniels, starting point guard, talked about his view on the team this year and how basketball has affected him these past four years. “We have had our ups and downs but overall, I feel like we have done well,” he said. “We’re getting closer to districts so now is the time to up our game even more. Basketball is a special sport to me that I think is all based on effort and hustle, which reflects on how well you do. It’s why I love the sport so much.”
Carroll expressed similar feelings, explaining, “I really enjoy playing basketball, it’s a sport I’ve spent a lot of time with and something that I’ve played for a while. I enjoy my teammates and playing basketball with them.”
The high school boys basketball team will be playing in the Sparta Tournament on January 24-28.
