Nicolas Hamp: His Imprint On Fair Grove School and Band
April 26, 2022
With hundreds of kids graduating schools each year it is easy to forget graduated seniors, but Nicolas Hamp has proved he left a mark on Fair Grove High School.
Nicolas Hamp, a current senior at Fair Grove High School, has gone to Fair Grove Schools since kindergarten. He has been doing an assortment of sports throughout his high school career. His freshman and junior year he did track and he ran cross country his freshman year. Nicolas says, “For all four years of high school I have been a member of the high school marching and pep band.” His senior year he accomplished a lot, “This year I performed in district solo and ensemble as well as district honor band, both of which I went to state for.”
Natalie Palomo, Fair Grove’s Band Director, explained Nicky’s accomplishments. “ He served as clarinet section leader this year, and was in the District Honor Band.” she added “He placed highly enough in that to be able to audition for State Honor Band.” Hamp also got a ‘1’ rating with his solo at districts, which means he will go to State for that as well in a few weeks, “Hopefully taking home a gold medal,” Palomo said.
Palomo described Hamp as, “The kind of student who is a little goofy but will get work done and help others do so as well. He’s a sweet kid, and truly seems to care about others.” She added that he is someone Palomo can rely on to go above and beyond when she asks for help.
Nicolas is also a part of National Honor Society, he added, “I became a member of the NHS this year, and have completed my 15 hours of volunteering.” In Nicky’s free time he is usually occupied with his solo and ensemble for band, or working out at Grove Fitness. Nicky is doing well in school, with his success and dedication to Fair Grove’s band program he has also done well staying on top of his grades with a high, almost perfect, GPA.
When Nicolas graduates high school he plans on going to OTC for their Electronic Music Production program to get his associates degree, and then transferring to MSU for his bachelor’s degree. Even though Nicky is leaving high school he doesn’t plan to stop doing what he loves, “After High school I plan to continue working out, and will most likely participate in powerlifting. In addition to this, I will be joining the community band Mrs. Palomo is in.”
