May 23, 2022
Fair Grove resident and mom Melissa Green, has been a big part of the Fair Grove athletics in recent years. Melissa is all in for FG.
From taking photos of Fair Grove athletes, providing snacks for everyone, and showing up to almost every athletic event, to Savanna Luna (11), Green is one of the best. “I love getting home from a game I just played, and getting to see the pictures Melissa took. It’s rewarding to see them, and also to see a side of the game that I don’t see because I’m so focused on playing,” Luna said.
Melissa added her point of view, “I love getting to take pictures of the athletes. They are always so grateful for the pictures, which just motivates me more to take and edit them. It also helps that I’m getting to take pictures of my own children too. I don’t see it as a job, I see it as a privilege!”
Green went to school at Republic High school up until her freshman year, when she moved to Fair Grove. She participated in sports such as volleyball and track, and was involved in other extracurricular activities like clubs.
Melissa Green’s daughter, Taylor Green (10) explained, “I love that our school has their own photographer, something that most schools don’t have. It’s nice that it’s my mom too, and I really like how close she is to all the athletes. It seems like everybody loves her, and it makes me really proud.”
Sports are something that have always been a big part of the Greens’ life. Taylor participates in volleyball, basketball, and track. While Gage plays football, basketball, and baseball. “Something that is really fun is taking pictures of my kids! It’s nice that I’m closer to them than the crowd because I’m taking those pictures, so I get a better chance to cheer them on, along with the rest of the team.”
Lastly, Green added, “Fair Grove is such a great community, and I’m so blessed to be able to capture some of the best moments in athletics. It’s a rewarding feeling, and I’ve met so many different kids and parents who are so grateful for what I’m able to do. I have always loved taking pictures of my kids playing their sport, so changing to not just taking pictures of them has been so fun!”
