PTO Supports H2H’s Drive for Hygiene
November 8, 2022
The Hygiene Drive is an event put on by PTO, made to collect hygienic items needed for the school and community.
There is no monetary fundraiser connected to the Hygiene Drive, but all members of the community are welcome and encouraged to donate any items they can, however there is no requirement to.
“The overall goal is to collect the Hygiene items to support Heart2heart (Care 2 Learn) in their efforts of supporting our communities’ families as needed,” Lynnae Cook, a handler of the event, shared, “This is not the first time we have partnered with H2H. We also worked to gather school supplies based on H2Hs needs at the beginning of the year. PTO is always working to find new ways to support our district from teachers and students to individual groups throughout the community. The more we partner together the more of an impact we can make in our community and school district.”
Ashley Lederich, the vice president of PTO and chairperson of the event, shared that they advertise the event by posting about it on the ‘Fair Grove PTO’ Facebook page. Lederich then explained that all Hygiene Drive donations that come from the community include, but are not limited to, deodorant, toothpaste, underwear, socks, feminine hygiene products, bar soap, toilet paper, laundry soap, and all purpose cleaning products. She continued, “All items collected will go to Heart2Heart and our school Nurse’s Offices.”
“We are hoping to have enough items to give to Heart2Heart who take care of those in need in our community, and to give our school nurse’s items that they tend to go through frequently at school,” she concluded.
On the mornings of November 3 and 4, the items raised by the fundraiser were retrieved from the front of school buildings, and were distributed to H2H and the elementary and high schools’ nurse’s offices.
