On October 29th, the Fair Grove High School volleyball team played their last game at home, facing off against Strafford in the State Quarterfinals.

From the beginning of the season, the volleyball team put in the work to grow their skills and their bond. “Before this season began we had quite a few summer camps we attended and team bonding days, we also amped it up in practice and worked overtime to be at our best,” explained Abbey Green (10).

With all of the work put in the volleyball team, from their team practices, club volleyball tournaments, individual preparations, and team bonding, the volleyball team was able to finish off the season with a record of 30 wins, two losses, and four splits.

“We spent a lot of time together, bonding on and off the court. We worked really hard on staying disciplined and every time we were on the court, we gave 110%,” shared Kameron Green (12).

The volleyball team made it to districts this year; “Going into districts felt really good, our team had such high spirits and was ready to do whatever it took,” shared Abby. The girls won both their games securing Fair Grove the title of District Champs. The last title the volleyball team had won was in 2013, and the volleyball team shared their eagerness to earn it back. “My favorite part of the season was winning districts for the first time in a while and being able to put a record on the wall,” stated Hannah Schwab (9).

Winning districts as well as two tournaments, conferences, sectionals, and almost 30 games in a row, the team was rather proud of themselves and their bond. “ As a whole, our team played really well throughout the whole season, start to finish. We won two tournaments and won a district championship on top of winning almost thirty games in a row,” reflected Kameron Green.

“Everyone just clicked as a whole,” Shea Skouby (9) continued to share, “We were able to play exceptionally well… The team grew closer with each other, which was a major part of our success this year.”

Reflecting on their season, the girls all shared their fond sentiments for the team and its members. Abbey Green stated, “I could not be more proud of this season for myself and my teammates, we really dug in this year and pushed back anyone who tried to beat us.”

Many girls talked about their solo senior and team captain, Kameron Green. “One thing I would change is getting to play longer with this incredible group of girls that we have, also that we could keep our senior Kameron Green with us for a little bit longer.” Abbey Green continued, “not only because she is my sister, but also because she was such a presence on the floor and was a beast at the net.”

“This season was definitely the best season to go out on. I thought it went really well and I feel like I grew a lot as a player and as a leader this year,” Kameron Green continued, voicing her sentiments for her team,  “I am proud of this team and how far we have come, but I am most proud of the fact that we never gave up, no matter who doubted us or how far behind we fell.”
