Book Worms of Fair Grove
February 9, 2023
There are so many genres of books, and a vast variety of diversity among them. With that, students here at Fair Grove High School are digging into some books of their own.
Librarian, Chanda Lemon, is an avid reader. According to Lemon, the top genres of books are realistic fiction, historical and sports- both fiction and nonfiction.
Lemon also included a resource to a list of top books for 2023, “The Gateway Nominee list has some good choices for this year such as Fable by Adrienne Young, This Light Between Us by Andrew Fukuda, & Golden Arm by Carl Deuker.”
Currently Lemon is enjoying reading Alan Gratz’s latest book called, “Two Degrees.” A fiction book about a 3 catastrophes caused by climate change.
Lemon then shared how the output of book club, the club that she sponsors, has been for her and students, “I think it is fun for the students to get together and participate in literary games & discussions. I also like to hear what our students are currently reading & why they chose that author.”
Senior Kris Hunter has recently just finished the book “Verity,” by author Colleen Hoover. This book is a suspenseful thriller that involves a woman, Lowen Ashlegh, who is a writer on the edge of becoming bankrupt, but gets the job of a lifetime.
“This book is so suspenseful. The very first chapter of the book was so intense. I was so shocked by what I was reading every chapter. If you are looking for a good book to read, I would 100% recommend this one,” Hunter explained.
When asked what he loved most about the author, Hunter stated, “I love the way Colleen Hoover is able to write each book in a way that is both exciting, entertaining, but still so intense. She is one of my favorite authors, and I really enjoy reading her books.”
If students are interested in finding a good new book and don’t know where to start, Mrs. Lemon hosts book club meetings in the library once a month.
