With the school year coming to an end, Fair Grove High School Cheer took their final bow for the year of 2023 after cheering for the Eagles all year with a smile on their faces and pride in their school.

Over the span of the cheer season, Neveah Lahey (10) described her favorite sport to contribute to, “My favorite sport to cheer for is definitely going to be basketball! I enjoy cheering for basketball the most because of how engaged we can be with the pep club, and how close we are to the players. I just feel more engaged in the game.”

Lahey continued to talk about how the atmosphere of the practices and games are, “I love how much energy everyone has when we’re stunting and performing! We always know how to have a good time together and really make the best of practices and games.”

With this being the last season for the cheer seniors, Carissa Thompson (12) described what she’ll miss about the sport, and the experience of being cheer captain. “I will miss Kalyn and Coach Sam the most. Kalyn has always been my bus buddy and she always makes me laugh, and Coach Sam has always been my coach even in middle school… This year was honestly a challenging year as a captain but I learned a lot and grew as a person. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Kayln Koller (11) expressed her season, and what was important to her this year. “My favorite part of cheer is the memories and the friendships you make during the season. I will miss the bus rides for away games, because they were always fun and some of the best memories were made on the bus.”

Lahey expressed her outlook on the leaving seniors, and the memories the team had made over the summer. “I will miss the seniors for sure, every year the hardest part is always going to be losing the seniors. They do so much for the team and I highly appreciate everything they do. My favorite memory is definitely going to Branson with the team. Me and the girls were in the room, got doordash and stayed up late, it was just super fun.”

Thompson also expressed her favorite memory with the team, which was collectively agreed upon as being the best memory, “My favorite memory was Branson camp,  we were all happy, getting along, and excited for the new cheer season ahead.”

Fair Grove Cheer got to end the season off with a huge positive note; cheering for the State Championship for the girls basketball team, and ending the year with a huge win to celebrate as a group, and a team.
