Major League Baseball

October 22, 2020

It is late October and one of the most anticipated events has finally come around: the World Series. This year’s World Series consists of two teams, the Tampa Bay Rays and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Rays came out of the American League and the Dodgers came out of the National League. The Rays have beat the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, and Houston Astros throughout this year’s playoffs. The Dodgers have beat the Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, and the Atlanta Braves throughout the playoffs. Both of these teams have had to face some difficult teams throughout the postseason but I think the Rays have had the harder competition.

The first game of the World Series was on October 20. The Dodgers were able to win game 1 by a score of 8-3. When comparing the two teams, it appears that the Dodgers have the edge over the Rays. While having some of the best players in the league such as Cody Bellinger, Mookie Betts, and Clayton Kershaw; it’s tough to have a team better than that. Also, over the past few years, the Dodgers have a large advantage of postseason experience over the Rays. The Dodgers are on a streak of 8 consecutive postseason appearances; the Rays have not been able to make the postseason since 2013. The Dodgers obviously have a lot of postseason experience, and I think that will come into play during this year’s World Series.
