FGMS Girls’ Basketball Game (11/17)

The Fair Grove Middle School girls basketball team has started off practices for the 2020-2021 season and expects to have a great season, as they did last year.

With a very successful season last year, the girls are looking to do well this year too. Middle school basketball coach Carrie Green talks about her eighth grade team, “We have a lot of talented players. In any given game, a different player could step up and lead us. Each girl brings that unique ability.” She then goes on to explain more about her seventh grade team, “For our seventh graders, we have 10 players that are all competing every day. Our goal is to improve each game, prepare for high school, and to have fun playing the game.”

Emma Padgett (8) explained, “I think that the Skyline game will be the hardest this year.” Seventh grader Quincy Williams (7) thinks that Strafford will be their team’s biggest competitor. Mrs. Green also agreed with both of her players.

Both teams got to go out and play against Marshfield; the seventh grade team came out with an unfortunate loss after the game when they made it 18-18 in the middle of the 3rd quarter. The eighth grade team on the other hand came out with a win, and the final score of the game was 58-5.

As both teams continue on with the year, Padgett and Williams both agree on how they love the game of basketball because of the competitive nature that the game comes with. Green concluded, “I think we will have a great season. The 8th grade team was undefeated last season and we would love to accomplish that goal again this year.  The 7th graders are getting better every practice, so we think they will win a lot of games this season as well. We have high expectations for each group.”
