The COVID-19 Vaccine Has Been Released

January 20, 2021

COVID-19 rates are still rising and changing many aspects of life, and the virus has played a part in everyone’s existence for a full year.

Throughout the recent holidays there have been changes in the ways things plan out within each individual family. Many families have called off the celebration of some of the most important holidays of the year due to COVID-19.

Newly brought to people’s attention is the COVID vaccine. Many people are getting the vaccine and others are completely against it.

Stated on the CDC’s website (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) is a lot of vaccine information and facts about what the vaccine does, and answers to any questions you may have. The CDC stated, “The COVID-19 vaccination works by teaching your immune system how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19, and this protects you from getting sick with COVID 19.”

Even with many facts and statistics on the vaccine, many people refuse to believe the vaccine does any good for the human body.

Skylair Teague, a junior at Fair Grove High School, stated, “I think the COVID vaccine is just something new that they want us to take that hasn’t been tested very much and they truly don’t know the side effects, it doesn’t make sense to me to even take the vaccine if the mask work so well. Also how can they make a vaccine for the deadliest virus we have ever seen so fast, but can’t make a cure for cancer, and we have known about cancer for a very long time.”

A report done by the University of Maryland states that the COVID vaccine was produced quickly due to the large amount of money contributed towards it by the federal government and scientists’ previous familiarity with the coronavirus family. According to Pfizer, their vaccine was also tested on over 43,000 volunteers without safety concerns before being released.

Many places all around the world for jobs and safety requirements are making the vaccine required to do specific jobs.

Skylair Teague said, “No, I would not take the vaccine if a job required it nor would I go to school if they required it. If a job required it I would no longer work there. I don’t think it would be worth putting that in my body just to keep that job.”
