The Fair Grove Lady Eagles basketball team is midway through their 2022 season. They are currently standing at 10-5 with eight more regular season games before the district tournament.

The Lady Eagles have been playing hard all year to secure a winning season. They came out big with early season wins and are working to keep their pace going. With only five losses halfway through the season, the girls are looking to become big competitors for districts.

A lot of Fair Grove’s big wins are thanks to their determined lineup of athletes. Kameron Green (11), is one of Fair Grove’s varsity players who has been helping the girls win big this season. Green is confident in the team’s talent and ability to run the game. “This year our team has a lot of talent all around,” Green explained. “Every position is filled with great players and everyone works hard to improve everyday.”

To have a winning season, it takes more than just talented players. The Lady Eagles have also put in the work during practices to ensure that the team is running smoothly on the court. Bradi Weaver (12), is another one of Fair Grove’s players who has seen the growth of the team this year. “The team has been preparing for games by working extremely hard in practices and studying plays and also by just growing together,” stated Weaver.

Fair Grove has been physically preparing and training in order to win games, but another big part of the game is how the team is able to work together. Green mentioned that, “Right now our team is working really hard on our chemistry and our ability to work together.” Working more smoothly on the court has been a big improvement for the girls this season. “The past couple games our defense has really stepped up and we have started flowing better as a unit,” Green added.

The players are not the only members of the team that are exceeding this year, a lot of players give credit to the team’s head coach, Mrs. Talbert. “Coach Talbert is our head coach and she does a really great job of working with everyone and helping us improve in every aspect of the game,” Green stated.

Talbert has had quite a bit of success incorporating younger talents onto the court this year. Upperclassmen have seen the amazing things that the freshman have been bringing to the table. “Our team consists of a lot of younger girls which means that there is still a lot of learning to do but if you consider how young our girls are you would be impressed with how they play on the court,” Weaver explained.

The Lady Eagles have been a fierce opponent all season long and are looking to end the season strong as they enter the postseason. “I am really looking forward to districts because by that point we will be at the top of our game and we have a chance to make it far this year,” said Green.
