Many members of the Fair Grove High School senior class of 2022 are preparing for their future with the A+ program. This program makes many things possible for these students.

While the A+ program does give out great benefits, there are also requirements that you must meet to be eligible for the program. Some examples of these requirements are having a 95% attendance rate, 26 credits, 50 service hours, and maintaining 2.5+ GPA. Along with complying to the random drug testing program throughout the year.

Paige Robinson (12), is currently in this program to help support her college cost. She is presently working with Mrs. Amber Highfill, a first grade teacher at Fair Grove.

Robinson stated, “I chose to participate in this program because it was an easy program that would benefit my future.”

A+ benefits students in many more ways than one. Many students use the program as a way to have funding for their college years.  For those students that attend community colleges in Missouri, their tuition will be covered as long as they participated in the A+ program. Anna Newlin (12), explained, “The A+ program is a scholarship program that provides scholarships for eligible graduating seniors.”

Newlin also stated, “I chose to participate in this program just in case I need something to fall back on. It’s smart to have a backup plan if your first option doesn’t end up working out.”

A+ allows seniors to interact with younger students in exchange for college money and scholarships. Newlin stated, “Everyday, we go to specials and assist the kids in any way we can.”

Along with assisting student needs, A+ students also help with anything the teachers they are assigned to need. Robinson said, “While participating in A+ I have assisted the teacher, played with the students, assisted the students academically, and just have been able to build bonds with the kids.”

Unfortunately, this program does not reach outside of Missouri. Students planning to attend out of state schools will not receive any of the benefits that student’s staying in Missouri will.

Not only are these students getting future opportunities out of the program, they are also forming long lasting relationships with the children. Many students that have an A+ student in their younger classes will remember that student throughout their entire time in school.
