The Fair Grove High School Football Team took home an extraordinary win Friday, September 23. The game ended with a final score of 50-14.

“After coming off from the tough loss last week we definitely need a win,” said Gabe Muncy (10) before the game. The team got what they had hoped for; the football boys played very well against Stockton. Kellen Lair (10) shared his thoughts before the kickoff, “We are hoping to start the game strong and put it away fast because lately we have been starting slow and then in second half of the game we start playing like we were supposed to.”

Muncy added, “The game against Stockton last year was a close game, but they also graduated a lot of good seniors.” Both the Stockton and Fair Grove varsity team had a bunch of seniors graduate, leaving them to have to adjust to the new year. The return of the two teams was a big outcome for Fair Grove as they secured the win.

Lair stated, “Some of the leaders on our team are people that go hard even when they are hurt or losing; Cooper Roy, Gabe McMains, and Kolton Stevens.” Being on a team, players need strong leaders to help with the ups and downs of the sport.

Muncy explained prior to the game, “It’s going to be an exciting game to play, having all the fans out for homecoming. The overall environment makes it exciting.” The Fair Grove Band and Pep Club are always there to cheer on the football boys while they play against different schools. The stands are also filled with supporters from all over Fair Grove. In addition to the game, the students and players got to look forward to the homecoming dance which took place right after.

Lair said, “The football season has been going good so far. The thing we need to improve on is just playing hard the whole time.” The Fair Grove Eagles have a couple more games ahead of them before districts. They hope to stay strong and keep up the great work.
