The Son plus One event took place on Saturday, October 8th. This year, 2022, the theme was “Get your Glow on,” and it features glowing Nerf bullets.

Tiffany Willis, the elementary school secretary, advertised, “PTO would like to present this year’s Son plus One event! Join us for a glowing good time with a dance party in one gym and a glow in the dark Nerf war in the other gym. Tickets will be $5 per person and will include two glow sticks to get the party started and a picture of your group at the event. We will also have glow accessories available for purchase, along with complimentary face painting!”

Previously, the Son plus One event was known as the Mother-Son Olympics. According to a spokesperson for PTO, “Everyone’s family dynamic is different…so whether it’s a mother, father, brother, sister, grandparent, or family friend, it was decided that ‘Son plus One’ is more appropriate and welcoming.”

“The overall purpose is to bring the sons in our district together with a loved one in their family to have a night of fun. Secondly, the events PTO puts on help us to raise money so that we can give back to our teachers each year! This school year we were able to donate Amazon gift cards to all of our teachers, this was all possible due to the success of events like the Son plus One,” the Spokesperson explained.

The event was $5 per ticket, which would get them into the event and included two glow sticks. Once in the event, families can purchase more glowing items ranging from $1-$3, or get a complimentary glow under black light or neon face painting. For these face-paintings, tips were appreciated, but in no way required.

The Spokesperson requested to add, “this is one of many of our fun events for the school year and it is meant to be for all ages! If anyone has ideas for events that they would prefer to see over this school year, and years to come, please email [email protected].”
