Fair Grove PTO’s annual Write a Check fundraiser took place September 23-30th with a total of $3,216.99 being raised across the three school buildings.

The Write a Check Fundraiser is held every year by the Fair Grove PTO. Vice President Ashley Lederich expanded on this, “The write a check fundraiser is a simple, convenient way we raise funds where members of our community can literally write a check or send money through PayPal, and all those donations go directly back to our schools. At the end of each school year, teachers, support staff, and administrators can request items that are needed for the schools.”

This year, the PTO added a fun reward for the building that raised the most money, Lederich exclaimed, “The fundraiser for write a check went great! Many of the donations came within 24 hours of it ending. That most likely happened that way because we added something fun to entice donations. The winning building principal(s) were going to have to ‘Kiss a Pig’ at the all district pep assembly, so it made it exciting!”

The elementary won the competition, which meant that the elementary administrative staff had to kiss a pig. Vice Principal Ryan Buffington remarked, “Before, I had prepared myself to kiss a big ole’ 400 pound sow, so when I saw a piglet I was relieved.”

He added that he was not bothered by giving the little porker a smooch, “It didn’t bother me one bit.  As long as the kids enjoyed it then I’m all for it. I was proud of our elementary kids for raising the most money and would do it again for them.”

Susanne Feldman, a second year member in the PTO stated, “I loved this fundraiser, people don’t always want to feel obligated to buy stuff they don’t really want, so this fundraiser is to the point and I think people like that feature.”
