The Fair Grove Future Farmers of America (FFA) took a field trip to the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds for Farm Fest.

“I love this field trip because it allows me to get out of school, but also I love seeing the different businesses and products they have to offer. I also love that we get free stuff and get to do a scavenger hunt,” expressed Alyssa Snitker (11).

She added that at Farm Fest, you get to walk around and talk to different people from around Missouri and the surrounding area. They tell you about their business and what they do or sell. Plus, the companies sometimes also give you different souvenirs to keep like pens, stickers, and bags.

Mr. Johnston and Mr. Crutcher, the Agriculture teachers at Fair Grove, have the students complete a scavenger hunt around the place, having to find and take a selfie of the different things you find and come across.

“I really enjoy the scavenger hunt Mr. Johnston and Mr. Crutcher make us do each year. It gives you a chance to talk to different people and learn about different things,” said Alivia Tucker (10).

Each year the freshmen through the juniors get a list of things they have to collect and take pictures of, and turn it into the AG teachers. The list says things like collect ten pens, take a picture with a person from Fair Grove, and take a picture with a beef producer.

“It’s a great way to meet new people in the agriculture industry as well as explore different businesses. Also it is just a great time with friends and fun to explore with people who like the same things you do,” said Snitker. The field trip gives the students opportunities to talk to different people about their business and learn about it and get to know how to start one or become interested in what the companies do.

“Yes, it’s a great experience and if you’re in FFA I would recommend qualifying and going on the trip,” said Tucker. The field trip is a time to get out of school for the day and walk around with your friends and look at different animals that you can pet and hold. You also get chances to make new friends from different schools. The field trip has endless opportunities for students who are interested in the agriculture industry.
