This year as the Powderpuff fundraiser, Mrs. Overstreet and FBLA collectively chose to donate to Care to Learn.

According to Chris Stallings, “Care to Learn is a non profit organization founded by Doug Pitt (brother of Brad Pitt) with over 40 Chapters in the region, including Fair Grove.”

The Care to Learn program helps children in the Missouri area and allows them to meet needs that some of us take for granted. They provide things like coats, shoes, food and even things like glasses. They also have a backpack program.

To raise money this year, FBLA and Powderpuff players collected money at the Powderpuff game and raised a considerable amount. Braden Booth (12) explained, “Generally we do some more, but we were unable to this year so we just raised money at the game itself, which was very successful.”

Although Powderpuff is the main event supporting Care to Learn, it is not the only time Fair Grove fundraises for them. Year round, teachers have the option to donate money directly from their paychecks.

Stallings said, “Right now we are currently doing a monthly payroll deduction with our faculty and staff. Many of them have agreed to have a set amount of money withdrawn from their checks each month. Additionally, we will work with other business members in the community for larger scale donations.”

Alongside these other options, Stallings also said that you can donate later in the year. “We will also have various smaller fundraisers throughout the year including a “donation war” between Fair Grove and Strafford that will be used to encourage online donations to the Care to Learn chapters in Fair Grove and Strafford during our basketball game series,” he said.

Care To Learn is mainly funded by donations, so in order to continue doing the good that they are doing, they need help from their community. To donate from home, all one would have to do is go to the website and click “donate now.”
