The Fair Grove Middle School boys’ basketball team is working hard to prepare for the season ahead.

Going into the 2022 season, the boys are looking forward to two games most of all. Those games are Bolivar, the season opener, and the rivalry game against Strafford.

Zachary Snodgrass, head coach for Middle School Boys’ Basketball, stated, “We are looking forward to playing Bolivar in our season opener because that will set the tone for the rest of the season. Bolivar will be a good challenge for us, and of course we are looking forward to playing our rival Strafford.”

The Eagles have high expectations for this upcoming season. Snodgrass explained, “We have very high expectations for the upcoming year. Knowing the talent level and the continuity of this group it should be a very fun year but we still need to get the job done each game.” Assistant coach Kyle Cavanaugh continued, “My expectations for our middle school this upcoming season are to compete to the best of our abilities, encourage each other on and off the court, and to build a culture that carries from middle school throughout high school.”

The Eagles have many strengths this year in basketball including the advantage that players have been playing with each other for quite some time. Snodgrass stated, “Our strengths for this year would be the fact that this group has been playing together for a long time and they understand how each other play. In basketball that is very important for the team aspect of the game and they really mold well together. We also have a lot of guys that love the game of basketball and they are very competitive.”

Even a team with many strengths does have a few weaknesses. The middle school Eagles have a few minor beginning-of-season weaknesses. Snodgrass explained, “For now it may be a little early to really see what we need to do to improve, but one of the challenges may be making sure they are mentally prepared before each game.”

The Fair Grove Middle School boy’s basketball team has their first game of the season against Bolivar at home on December 6th.
