The Fair Grove Middle School girls’ basketball team is working hard to wrap up the season with success.

As the middle school Lady Eagles exit the 2022 season, they got a win against Bolivar Middle School at Bolivar with a score of 27-21.

One of the players, Lyla Bell (8), revealed a little about how the season went as a whole, “It went really well because we improved quite a bit since last year.” Bell’s teammate, Allison Sechler (8) stated, “I believe that we moved the ball better and worked together as more of a team than last year.”

The players on the Lady Eagles team have played together a lot and know each other very well. Sage Crowley (8) says that players Allison Sechler and Makayla Steineke were some of the most crucial on the team because of how good they were at shooting three point shots. Crowley states, “Allison and Makayla made the biggest difference in if we won or lost because they helped us with threes a lot, which in the end helped us win the game as a whole.” Sechler’s opinion was, “I believe that all the players made a difference. All of our players had our different specialties which helped us win a lot of our games.”

A lot of the strengths that the Lady Eagles possess include having strong ball handlers and good posts. Sechler stated, “We have strong ball handlers and amazing posts, which helps us win a lot of our games.” Bell talked about how good the posts and three point shooters on the team are, “We are very good three point shooters and we have some excellent posts that are crucial to winning.”

Along with strengths, the team does have a minor weakness, “When we are under pressure we don’t do well,” Sechler explained. Crowley also proclaims, “Our biggest weakness is when the other team pressures us.”

Some of the 8th grade players are excited to be joining the Fair Grove High School Lady Eagles in playing basketball next season. Sechler said, “I’m most excited to be getting the opportunity to play in high school and with new people.” Crowley also said, “Playing with new people and learning new plays is what I am most looking forward to next year.”

The Fair Grove Middle School Lady Eagles end their season with 8 wins and 4 losses. With the older players moving on to high school, the Fair Grove Girls basketball program will continue to grow in size.
