Being a tri-athlete isn’t a simple task, neither is maintaining good grades. But for Fair Grove junior Hannah Maxwell, doing both and being involved in clubs, comes naturally to her.

Maxwell plays many sports including: school volleyball, basketball, sand volleyball, and club volleyball. Hannah has played volleyball since 3rd grade, so for 9 years now. Her high school coach Tonya Peck says, “Hannah has a maturity about her that is not often seen from a 17 year old.  I am able to talk with her and be honest with her and see her take that feedback to become better.  That is one of my favorite things about Hannah.  I also love that she truly enjoys what she is doing when she is on the volleyball court.  She loves to compete, loves to win, and most importantly, loves to have fun with her teammates. Her character shines through her athletics.”

Hannah’s favorite thing about volleyball is being a leader for her teammates and getting to play her favorite position of being a setter. She has a lot of memories with the sport she’s been playing for years now, but, “my favorite memory for volleyball is when we were at varsity camp during the summer and going to watch the new top gun movie and get snow cones one night,” Maxwell says.

Maxwell also plays sand volleyball and club volleyball on her own time to help improve herself so she can keep and improve her position on the court during the school season.

Maxwell has been playing basketball for 11 years now, even longer than volleyball. Her basketball coach Jennifer Talbert said, “I always know that Hannah is going to give all she has in whatever she does. I appreciate the way she encourages her teammates. She is always very positive. One of my favorite things about Hannah is that she never backs down from a challenge. We ask her to guard some of the best players in the state and she never backs down from it.  I can depend on her to give her all. She also has a great sense of humor, understands dry sarcasm and always gives me a courtesy laugh when making a lame joke. I definitely appreciate that!!”

Maxwell mentioned, “My favorite thing about basketball is being a leader as well and definitely playing defense. My favorite memory from basketball is when Coach Faubion basically fell on Lindy Sutherland while we were practicing taking charges.”

Maxwell is constantly out going and trying new things to improve herself. She is making an unforgettable impact on her coaches and teammates lives. “I believe that Hannah will be a player that will forever impact my career. She has been a part of a team that has worked hard but struggled to turn that hard work into wins on the court. She could have easily been discouraged, instead she has worked hard each year and is finally getting to reap the benefits of one of the most successful volleyball seasons that Fair Grove has seen. Thinking about next year being her last has already saddened me. BUT, we have unfinished business and I plan to have one more year of fun with her before we have to part ways,” says Peck.

Maxwell is an involved student and maintains good grades. There is one teacher at Fair Grove that she has specifically bonded with, “I truly do like all my teachers, but I would say Mrs. Dunning is one of my favorites because she is always there to start a conversation and gives good advice. As well she teaches very well and I learn great from her.”

Maxwell  has made an enormous impact on Fair Grove Schools over the past three years, she plans to continue working hard in school and on the court for her last year as a student at Fair Grove High School.
