The Fair Grove Football Team has been having a successful first half of the season. The team reigns undefeated, with wins over Mountain Grove, Central, Buffalo, Hollister, and Clever in the months of August and September.
The team’s successful history is described by their preparation in the offseason. Line Backer, Samuel Simpson (10), stated, “My preparation for this season was summer camp which was 5:30 every morning, and we ran hills on Thursdays. We also had good competition at camps, like Lamar and Higginsville”.
Defensive Back, Carson Trussell (11), explained the off season football workouts. “An entire summer of doing the worst of the worst. Each and every person is more conditioned than any other player on the teams we will face.”
Fair Grove is striving for another win at districts this year after succeeding last season, previously pulling a win. Simpson shared, “I hope for the team to win another District Championship. This year, our toughest game in season will be Forsyth in my opinion. They beat Father Tolton, which was a great team last year.”
The coaches have been preparing the athletes. and push the team to their maximum potential. Defensive Back, Logan Wilson (9) described his physical condition. “My condition can always be better, but I know that our coaches have prepared us all to be in the best condition possible. We started practicing in April, and we have had morning workouts starting at 5:30 am three days a week, for most of the summer.”
Wilson continued, “I wanted to say how awesome our coaches are, and how they are always motivating and teaching us to be the very best we can be… of course they are always pushing us to our max, which hopefully we can reach our season goal, which is a State Title.”
The next game to be held is at Fair Grove, against Reed Springs, on October 11th, the team moving forward with positive momentum.
