The Fair Grove Middle School Kids Being Kind Club is about spreading kindness and positivity throughout the school with “47 awesome members!”
The club is sponsored by Fair Grove Middle School Counselor Kristie Lepold and sixth grade communication arts teacher Annie Schieber. Schieber is a new sponsor for the club this year because in the past years the club was only run by Lepold.
Schieber explained the benefits of seeing the positive impact that the students have by being in the club, “It’s inspiring to see students take ownership of their actions and work together to make a difference. Watching their enthusiasm and commitment to spreading kindness is very rewarding and refreshing.”
Lepold elaborated on the purpose of the impact that the students can have throughout the district, “Kids Being Kind Club is for students who assume the role of leading and helping other students and adults in our school and community by modeling kindness and inclusion. This includes activities and events both inside and outside the school.”
The Kids Being Kind Club is for middle school students only and is a way for students to spread kind heartedness and positivity all throughout the school.
Schieber explained, “The primary goal of the Kids Being Kind Club is to promote acts of kindness and compassion throughout the school. The club strives to make kindness a core part of the school culture and to empower students to make a positive impact in their own lives and the lives of others.”
The Kids Being Kind Club meets after school every Wednesday. The club started their meetings on September 11th, and will continue to have meetings every Wednesday when there is school through the rest of the school year. This year there are the most members there has ever been. Lepold described, “We have a total of 47 awesome members!”
To spread their acts of kindness and compassion, the club has already done activities and they have some other events planned. The club has put sticky notes with positive messages throughout the school on lockers, and have written positive messages on the ground outside of the school with sidewalk chalk.
The upcoming events that the club are planning involve: volunteering at the fairgrounds for Thanksgiving and Christmas, working at outside agencies, celebrating teacher appreciation week, and holiday decorating.
Also there is a fundraiser that started September 25th working with Butter Braid Pastry. The funds raised are for local families and donations to organizations.
In the past five years since the club started the goal has been the same. Schieber shared, “The Kids Being Kind Club was created to influence a positive school environment. Its aim is to encourage students to practice kindness, empathy, and respect towards one another.”

This is a wonderful group and my son loves being involved in spreading kindness. The leaders are fantastic and I can’t wait to see to effects on all the other students. Keep up the great work.
