Fair Grove School District presents the production of The Bold, the Young, and the Murdered on Thursday, November 7th through Sunday, November 10th.
Rehearsals for the play have been in a full swing for the past few months. With the guidance of Fair Grove High School Speech and Theater teacher, Leroy Barker, the students have been working tirelessly to bring the script to life. Fair Grove Theater is excited to showcase the incredible talent and hard work of their students. Barker states,”I hope that the community will see that our students are dedicated to their work.”
Barker summarized this story and said, “Its hunky hero has self-esteem issues, its villainous old man is more interested in soup, and its heroines are slightly psychopathic. The executive producer gives the squabbling cast an ultimatum: Complete one episode overnight or the show dies…Cast members start dropping like flies, it seems like his threat might actually come true.
However, theater is much more than the performance. It also requires lots of teamwork and dedication behind the scenes as well as on stage. June Chumbley (11), who plays Eileen in the play, stated, “If you can’t work together as a cast then you will not have a good show.”
Tobie Garcia (12), who plays Cybil in the play, added to that statement, “Teamwork also happens with the backstage crew in getting all the props and scene changes to look flawless as the actors continue to make the show great.”
In addition to the set, the design and detail are the main highlights of the production. Barker explained, ¨A good design can enhance the mood and emotions that the actors are working to present while poor choices can distract the audience. While I appreciate compliments about the technical aspects of our productions, the best thing to hear is that the audience was moved by the emotions of the performers.”
After learning many new skills and having many opportunities the cast will get to show off the unique traits and personalities of each character with the help of the crew members. As the opening night approaches, the excitement is palpable. Both cast and crew are eager to put forth all their hard work and make the show come to life on stage.
