The Fair Grove High Marching Band has come to an end this Fall. The group finished off the season at preliminary competitions and finals, in Reed Springs on October 19th. In Preliminary competitions, the band placed 2nd in their class, and they achieved 3rd at finals.
Preston Hicks (11), percussion player, explained his future goals for his upcoming senior year. “My goal for the next season is to be able to perform with more confidence.” Hicks continued, “The team goals are always to make sure we keep consistent, and we leave a rehearsal with at least one improvement.”
Anderson Teaster (9), described his future improvements he wishes to accomplish, “I want to grow with my leadership, and want to be present at marching band practice.”
With the season having come to an end, seniors marched their last time with the Fair Grove Marching Band. Hicks stated, “We are losing both of our current senior drum majors, Carson Krider, and Lucas Engel. We are losing Riley Frazier, our flute section leader, who was additionally homecoming queen this October. Other seniors we are losing are Jayden Rice, Brielle Mahr, our band managers, Kaden Baker, Keith Nolan, and Andrew Juliano.” On top of losing these seniors they will also be losing Collin Emery, who plays the saxophone.
Teaster continued on how the seniors absence will affect the band, “I believe that losing the seniors will be a pretty large loss, both of our drum majors are leaving, meaning we will have a blank slate of what leader we will have next, but I believe we will prevail.”
With the seniors leaving a number of new opportunities by opening new leadership positions, the Fair Grove Marching Band is hoping to get new freshmen for the upcoming season, and are in preparation for another memorable year to serve Fair Grove.
