Fair Grove fall sports have recently had their senior nights, highlighting their members that are in their last year of high school.
The senior nights were held at different times. Football, band, and cross country were all held on October 25th while volleyball senior night was held on October 21st and soccer was held on October 22nd.
The seniors have enjoyed different parts of their respective senior nights. Jayden Rice, band senior, said, “My favorite part of senior night was listening to everyone’s memories they shared. It was so nice hearing all the other seniors talk about their best memories throughout their season.”
Riley Frazier, cross country and band senior, had a different favorite memory of her respective senior night. Her favorite part of the senior night experience was when she was walking out onto the field with her parents.
Frazier had also been looking forward to the senior night activities. She said, “I have been looking forward to senior night because it signals the end of the season and the attention is all on you.”
The seniors will also be leaving behind their respective teams as they graduate and continue to do other things after graduation. Rice said, “I’m going to miss the community and people that you involve yourself with when you are in band. I’m also going to miss all my friends I made through band that aren’t graduating with me in 2025.”
Owen Schlak, soccer senior, has a different thing that he will be missing once he graduates and moves on from high school. He said that he will miss the structure and schedule that being in school had him in.
While they will no longer be on their respective teams, they showed the upcoming generations their way of doing things. Rice said, “I was a leader to the underclassmen in early mornings and during the competitions. I showed them what the expectations were for being in band and how they should be treating one another.”
Schlak also stated that on his team he was able to keep things positive on the field. Schlak said, “When things aren’t looking our way in a game and calls are awful I do good at not caring occasionally so it’s easy to reel in everybody else.”
While they leave an imprint on their teams the teams also left an impression on them. Frazier said that her team made her become more mentally strong and it brought her closer and better the relationship with her peers.
Rice also thinks that he learned things while being in his team. Rice said, “From my experience from being in band for my entire high school career, I have learned more people skills than I couldn’t have learned on my own.”
Destiny Bridges (10), a player on the volleyball team said, “The seniors this year really showed me what it was like to be a team, and how you form into a family on and off the court. The seniors really inspired me to become a better player and teammate.”
