Semester one at Fair Grove High School is coming to an end. Seniors and freshmen have expressed how the first half of the year is going and how they are preparing for the second semester.
Freshman are in their first year of high school and have high hopes for what the rest of their high school career will hold.
Kharmah Wallace (9) commented how she had joined wrestling, which is a new sport at Fair Grove this year. With the sport being so new, Wallace is hoping that she can build up her skills and therefore build the team up during her time in high school and on the wrestling team.
Wallace said, “Being a part of a new sports program is exciting. We’re the foundation of something new and hopefully something great though we are years behind other schools that wrestle.”
On the other hand, seniors are halfway through their last year of high school. This means that in just a few months, seniors will be leaving the school and graduating. Some of the seniors are even leaving the first semester because they have all of their credits.
Kaia Joppa (12) said that the main thing that she is proud of this semester is all of the art work she has done while being in advanced art class.
She also mentioned that she hopes to get all of her grades up to A’s by the end of the semester. She said that she also hopes to choose which college she wants to go to by the end of semester one.
While freshmen are choosing what to do for the rest of their high school career, most seniors are thinking and planning on what college to go to, or what job they want to have after graduating.
Some seniors feel sentimental during this part of the year. Joppa commented, “I feel bittersweet knowing that this is my last first semester in high school.” She also said, “I am excited for the future, but I am also very nervous to go into unfamiliar territory with college and moving out.”
Joppa added that she hopes everyone knows to enjoy their years in high school, and for seniors to make the most of their last year.
