Over the past couple of years, on every Sunday, Fair Grove High School seniors around the community have been posting photos of themselves on a variety of social media platforms under the title of “Senior Sunday” to celebrate how far they have gone in their high school career.
One of the Fair Grove seniors participating in this trend, Meadow Carter (12), shared her personal perspective of this special trend, “The importance to me when it comes to taking senior photos, is for my future children. I look at old photos of my beautiful parents and I’m always bewildered by the lives they lived before me. I love looking at old pictures of them, so I want to supply as many saved memories as possible for people to see years later.”
Alana Findley, a former 2019 Fair Grove alumni, now a photographer for the Fair Grove area, explained how she got connected with seniors around the Fair Grove, “I’m fortunate to have so many friends and family still living in Fair Grove who have shared amazing words about my work.”
Findley added, “Their support has been a blessing in helping me grow as a photographer. It has been so meaningful to meet new people through my camera that I never would have otherwise.”
She also thanked her little sister, Allison Findley, 2024 Fair Grove alumni for helping her become so well known with the Fair Grove community and giving her that jumpstart into photography.
Carter shared her personal connection with Findley and how she started taking Senior Sunday photos earlier this year, “I know Alana Findley personally, she was my basketball tutor and my team mate’s sister. I messaged her about photos, and it was extremely easy from there! The location was based on my personal hobbies, interests, and my own aesthetic.”
Carter expressed her experience with Senior Sunday photos, “Seeing everyone’s Senior Sunday’s really resonates with me. I grew up with these kids for more than 12 years, and now we are all sharing our photos when I remember us playing at recess like it was yesterday. The impact of senior photos is an example of how time has passed, memories have been made, and how beautiful we have grown as people.”
The school year is halfway done and Senior Sunday’s have had a major impact on everyone involved as they get ready for their futures to come.
Findley stated, “Knowing I’m giving them something they can look back on for a lifetime—something that reflects who they are at such a significant point in their lives—is deeply fulfilling. It’s more than just photography; it’s about capturing milestones and celebrating individuality.”
