Stacy Lair is a beloved member, and facility of the Fair Grove Community. Primarily, Lair is shaping the lives of the younger generations that move through the district as a Second Grade Teacher.
Lair detailed her closest ties to Fair Grove, ¨I am a teacher, a wife, a mom, and a nana! I have eight kids who are ages two to 23, a daughter in law, a soon-to-be son in law, and three grandbabies. I grew up in Fair Grove, as did my parents and some of my grandparents.¨ Lair also mentioned how her family is heavily involved in their local church, often helping out with the youth.
Most of Lair’s time is spent in her classroom, in the Fair Grove Elementary. She calls her journey as a teacher in the district long and complicated. She worked as a Second Grade and Kindergarten Teacher from the years of 2005-2009, before taking some time off to focus on raising her kids. She returned to the district in 2018 and worked as a Kindergarten Teacher for two years before moving to second grade; which she claims is the place for her.
Lair utilizes her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and her masters degree in Early Childhood Development and Family Studies every day in her classroom. Lair detailed her daily routine, ¨My class starts with student-selected ‘morning finger workout’. I encourage the students to choose an activity that will build fine motor skills as they enter the classroom. Legos, playdough, coloring, free writing, etc.¨ She continued, ¨After our morning announcements, we transition into Phonics, then Reading/ELA. Writing is next… then we have specials, lunch, recess. The afternoon is for quiet reading time, math, social studies and science.¨
Lair noted that when she’s not at school, she enjoys watching her children do their sports and activities, traveling, cooking, ect.
Makenzie Clark, another Second Grade Teacher, commented on her experience working with Lair over the past seven years. ¨Mrs. Lair has had several years of experience in education, she always has great ideas when lesson planning. But she is also someone I go to often if I need advice not only work related but also in my personal life.¨ Clark concluded, ¨Mrs. Lair goes above and beyond for her students, colleagues, and friends. Mrs. Lair is someone who I truly aspire to be.¨
