Within the Fair Grove School District, there are many married couples that work together as teachers, coaches, or other staff members. While working together, these relationships are strengthened through the goal of bettering the district, and continuing a wonderful education for the students.
Middle School Principal Marc Green explained that he has worked with his wife at Fair Grove for 13 years. He stated, “Working in the same profession and in the same building has probably made me a better educator. Mrs. Green is an amazing teacher and has such a heart for kids and I would say that listening to her and getting her input and perspective has made my job much easier.”
Carrie Green, Middle School English teacher, stated, “It strengthens our teamwork because we are always working on the same goal. It is also nice to have support during challenging times from someone who knows exactly what you’re dealing with.”
Some teachers described how convenient it is to have the same work schedule as their spouse. Matt Robertson, Middle School Science teacher explained that it makes planning for vacations much easier since he and his wife have the same work schedule.
The Roepke’s have explained how working together has affected these marriages in very positive ways. Middle School Assistant Principal, Randie Roepke stated, “We spend a lot of evenings together watching teams in purple play, but we love it. We love FG and the close knit community that we get to raise our kids in. We understand many situations that each other are going through and are able to be a listening ear for each other.”
Morgan Roepke, the Fair Grove Elementary School Process Coordinator, explained that working with Mr. Roepke has only strengthened their relationship. “Not many people get to witness their husband/wife in their element, doing the things they are passionate about. I get to see that daily, and I love that we understand the day-to-day struggles and victories of the work we do to a much deeper level than most,” she stated.
Middle School English teacher, Kayla Holt explained how her and her husband, Chris Holt, have both had an impact on the new wrestling program. She said, “My husband is the head wrestling coach for the new wrestling program and I have gotten to be his secretary of sorts, which sounds like a chore, but it’s actually been very fun to build this program with him. I enjoy getting to see him be a blessing to young athletes, build not only wrestling intelligence, but inspire hardworking, motivated young athletes.”
