Isabel Bruner is a freshman at Fair Grove High School this year and is very involved with the school and activities and sports within it.
Bruner is currently involved in basketball, volleyball, and track. She also participates in clubs such as FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), FTA (Future Teachers of America), and FFA (Future Farmers of America).
During her first high school basketball season, Bruner gained confidence as a player. Bruner said, “I personally accomplished gaining my confidence but with a team, we have accomplished winning state for girl’s basketball and I was so glad I was part of it.”
She also has had fun in her clubs as well. She said, “I enjoy these clubs because they involve everyone and also encourages people to become leaders or get outside of their comfort zone!”
When she mentioned that she was also in FTA she said, “This one is one of my favorites because I get to help and show support to teachers that once or still support me.”
Bruner said that during sports and clubs, she has to stay motivated. She mentioned, “Gary Green, my high school basketball coach has motivated me the most because no matter what we are talking about, it always leads back to Jesus Christ. Gary speaks the truth and says the perfect things.”
She also said, “To stay motivated I like spending my time with the Lord and opening my Bible. Spending my time with him gives me energy and confidence to do the things I love.”
Like lots of people in Fair Grove, Bruner shares the school with her two siblings, Brock Bruner (12) and Haven Bruner (6). She shared, “To start having Brock in high school with me has been such a blessing and has made us so much closer. I always get the best advice from him and he has always been there for me.”
She continued, “Then having my little sister who is a few grades below me always gives me joy. She is the person I walk with into school and gives hugs to before she goes to class. It is always a great way to start my day! I feel great about going to school with them because I know I have family somewhere in the building.”
Bruner has set goals for herself at the beginning of this year and she shared those when she said, “The goal that I set for myself at the beginning of this school year and every school year is to have high grades. So far throughout this school year I have accomplished that idea.”
Bruner plans to keep up with her sports and clubs. She said, “Being involved a lot within the school has taught me how to manage my time and keep my energy and passion to do the things I love.”
