The Fair Grove Boys Basketball team ended their season on March 3, 2025 in a sectional loss against Thayer (61-70). During the 2024-2025 season, the team clinched their first district title since the 2021-2022 season.
Head basketball coach Bryan Tucker expressed, “I was extremely proud of our kids, especially our seniors for finishing the year so well and beating Greenwood in the district finals after they ended our season a year before.”
Atticus Brandes (12) said “I think we made it this far because of our ability to play together in big games.” Brandes continued, “My favorite part of the season was getting food after games, because it is a good team building experience.”
Tucker said one thing they did differently was being quicker paced with their plays this season compared to the last. Tucker added, “We felt like we had good shooters on the perimeter so we felt more comfortable with shooting more perimeter shots.”
With a steady season from the team, Tucker was pleased with the way his team had spent their time on the court. Tucker felt joy for his seniors and for the parents involved with the team, Tucker said “Joy, Joy for our seniors. Joy for our parents and for our school. Being able to win a district championship on your home floor is very special.”
With a strong bond between the team and coaches this year, and a win for the Eagles during their district championship game, Tucker said that he believes his team became stronger as the year had progressed. Being able to find their strengths and use them to their advantages helped them for the final stretch of their ending season.
Brandes believes that the team had a lot of talent this year. With the same goal and growing up together it gave the team time to find their own weaknesses and their way through rougher moments. Brandes added, “We played hard when we needed to.”
Tucker believes their team came together this year and they were able to grow on each other and learn how to work as one. The bond between the team helped them during their final stretch of the season, according to Tucker.
