Brooke Daniels (12) has had a very successful high school career, bringing home two volleyball state championships, three basketball state championships, winning multiple state events for Track and Field, and receiving the Springfield Sports Commissioners Award for Girls Athlete of the Year in 2024.
Though having multiple colleges reach out and make offers to her, the decision was close between Evangel University and College of the Ozarks.
Rhonda Perryman, Daniels’ mom, watched her weigh the pros and cons of her college options to continue her athletics with. Perryman explained, “She has loved her coaches and teammates and they have enjoyed so much success together. She also loves the small town feel and how everyone pretty much knows everyone.”
Daniels eventually chose to be a part of Evangel University to play Women’s Volleyball and Basketball. Daniels said, “I chose Evangel because it’s close to home and they allowed me to play both sports at the next level.” Daniels plans to major in Biology and become a Pediatrician.
Tonya Peck, head coach of the Lady Eagles Volleyball team, watched Daniels play even before she joined the High School Volleyball team. Peck has recognized Daniels leadership throughout the years. Peck said, “Because she was our hardest worker on the team, if she asked more of a teammate it was always done in the most respectful way and her teammates listened and respected her as their leader.”
Daniels has also been known to also work hard in her studies. She has been able to maintain a 4.O GPA while being a part of Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, Track, FCA, NHS, Culture Club, and SADD. In addition to her clubs and sports, Daniels was voted by her peers as the 2025 Prom Queen.
The hardest part of being as much of an involved as Daniels is having the time to get everything done. Daniels said, “I had to manage my time well and use bus rides and car rides home from games to study and to make sure everything was done”
On top of winning state championships for Volleyball and Basketball, Daniels has also won state championships for Track and Field. She has won the 400m, 300m hurdles, 4×100, 4×200 and javelin in 2022 and 2024. Lindsay Martin, the coach of the girl’s high school track and field team, admires Daniel’s morals more than anything.
Martin shared, “I would have to say, her heart and loving posture towards others, is what makes me the most proud to know her. She has been that same person her entire life, it’s just who she is!”
Daniel’s favorite memory from her high school career is winning the Commissioner’s Cup at the Springfield Sports Center. Daniels said, “It truly represented the work ethic of our school and just how much time each athletic program puts in every single day.”
