The Fair Grove School District recently announced that Dr. Maddison Hodson will be moving into the role of Elementary Assistant Principal following the move of Mr. Ryan Buffington to Elementary Principal for the 2025-2026 school year.
Hodson describes herself as an active person who loves to walk, garden, read, learn, and travel with her husband.
¨I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a Master of Education in Administration, a Specialist in Education in Educational Leadership, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership,¨ explained Hodson.
Hodson has previously worked at Bolivar as an 8th Grade English teacher, Willard as a 4th Grade teacher, and most recently at Jeffries Elementary, a part of Springfield Public Schools; as the Assistant Principal.
¨My education and experiences in different districts and at various grade levels give me a unique perspective for this new role,¨ added Hodson.
Chalise Shockley, Fair Grove District Curriculum and Communications Director, Testing Coordinator, and Parents As Teachers Educator, was a part of the hiring process of Dr. Hodson.
¨Dr. Hodson has a calm presence that our interview committee immediately picked up on. She is extremely intelligent and communicates her ideas and past experiences effectively,¨ explained Shockley. She continued, ¨Her experience with Springfield Public Schools as an administrator and her love of the Fair Grove community made her an amazing hire for our district.¨
Hodson noted that the pride of the Fair Grove community towards the school was a driving force in her decision to move to the district. She also mentioned that she has family in Fair Grove, so she is familiar with the town.
Hodson touched on her high hopes for her transition as well as the school year, ¨I hope to build relationships with the teachers, students, and community members of Fair Grove. I am excited to support Mr. Buffington is implementing his vision for the elementary school.¨ She added, ¨I’m looking forward to getting to know the school and the people, providing support to the students and staff, and investing in the Purple Kingdom!¨
Shockley explained, ¨The school spent lots of time reflecting on what characteristics we felt were needed for the new assistant principal. We had an interview committee of veteran teachers and fellow administrators to weigh in on the hiring decision.¨
Dr. Hodson is looking forward to helping lead the Fair Grove Elementary Schools alongside Principal Mr. Buffington the following school year.
