Recently, the Fair Grove Spring Sports Programs held senior nights to honor their senior athletes for their last high school sports season.
The senior nights were held on different dates. Baseball and Softball held their senior nights on May 3rd, and Soccer held their senior night on May 6th.
Brooke Daniels (12) is a multi-sport athlete. Daniels explained that she has been playing softball for nine years and has been a member of the track and field team since middle school. Daniels explained that her favorite memories of track and field are the trips to state each year. For softball she stated that her favorite memory was the Bible studies during off season with the team.
Daniels said that her teammates and coaches have been the reason she has been able to persevere and stick with the sports for all of these years. “We truly have the best coaches and students at Fair Grove, so being able to play for and with them has been such a blessing,” Daniels said. She wants all of her underclassmen to enjoy each moment you have in your sport and always have fun.
Brooklyn Williams (12) stated that she has been playing soccer for four years now. Williams said, “My favorite memory during my time playing for the Fair Grove soccer team would probably be after our Parkview game this year having a team dinner at José Locos.” Williams explained that keeping composure during the soccer games is the most important thing to do.
Williams claimed, “I have learned that you can only control yourself and how you react and not the people around you.” She said that she remembered the good times she had playing soccer any time she felt like quitting. All the fun and laughs she had while playing soccer always outweighed the bad moments.
Meadow Carter (12) stated, “I have been playing softball since t-ball, so I was in pre-k when I started. My dad was my first coach!” Carter explained that mentality is her most powerful weapon. “I had a mental athletic coach this year, and it has changed my performance and perspective 110%,” said Carter.
Carter said that her favorite softball memory is playing hide and seek in the school because their practice got rained out. Carter claimed, “It was so random, and I had so much fun.”
Carter explained that being in sports made her a new person and athlete. “Have fun with your teammates, enjoy every minute of that “long practice,” and laugh a little more than you would.”
