During the 2024 and 2025 Fair Grove High School Track seasons, many of the student athletes broke school records. Throughout both of these track seasons, the athletes worked hard to accomplish these feats.
Michael Zanzie is the high school track coach, along with Lindsay Martin. Their preparations for pre-season and setting up off season programs, and competitions has helped prepare everyone for the incoming track and field season.
Zanzie provided a list of all the record breaks in the previous 2024 and current 2025 track seasons. Starting with the 2024 season record breaks. Brooke Daniels (12) broke a record in javelin, throwing 120’7”, while also breaking the 300m hurdles with a time of 45.86.
Teams that broke records in the 2024 season started with Sage Crowley (10), Savannah Ipock (graduated senior), Willow Buescher (11), and Daniels breaking the 4×200 with a time of 1:45.74.
Ipock, Crowley, and Daniels again broke another record being the 4×100, with Ashton Bell (12). They set the new time at 50.76 in the 2024 season.
Another broken record in the 2024 season was the 4×400, which included Bell, Buescher, Emaley Stallings (12) and Kynlee Peck (10) with the time of 4:14.23.
Peck said, “When my team and I broke the record it was such an amazing feeling because we had worked so hard to get there.”
Katrina Cantwell (10) has broken the 3200m; setting the new time at 11:48.47. While also breaking the 1600m record with a 5:34.84, both in the season of 2024. Cantwell expressed that breaking these records was a goal, and said, “It was a goal, it felt unbelievable.”
Zanzie gives credit to the students by saying, “They work very hard in and out of season. Almost every one of these kids play another sport or participate in our off season program. Many attend off season competitions and don’t wait until season to start or begin their training.”
Carson Trussell (11) and Adrick Wilson (11) participated in the 4×200 with Dylan George (11) and Brock Bruner (12). They broke the record with a time of 1:30.25, in the 2024 track and field season. Trussel and Wilson also broke another record in the 4×100 with Kellen Lair (12) and Canyon Crowley (12), with an ending time of 42.24 this 2025 season.
As records continue to break, Trussell adds, “The goal when you run any race is to break the world record, that’s our mentality, we want to be the best.”
Crowley has broken two records, one in the 200m with a record breaking speed and time of 21.79. The other record break was in the 400m with a time of 48.49 in the 2024 season.
Another student of Fair Grove, Gavin Brock (11), broke a record in 110m hurdles with a winning time of 15.67 in the season of 2024.
Kade Brunkhorst (12) broke the record for Fair Grove High School a total three times during the 2025 season. The prior record for the Fair Grove was 48.92 meters, and Brunkhorst beat that record with a 53.3 meters.
Brian Neumann, throwing coach for Fair Grove High School, said, “Along with his (Brunkhorst) success we have Steven Lederich (12) who is now only .33m behind the school record in shot put and we have Sofee Garrett (11) who is 1.1m behind the school record in discus. It has been such an amazing year for Fair Grove throws and I could not be more proud of their performance this season.”
As records continue to fall, the limits that are shown were redefined with these athletes who show what it means to push through limits and surpass greatness. They show that there is always something around the corner and that hard work pays off.
