Nate Brigman is a student teacher here at Fair Grove for this 2025-26 school year and teaches history in Jeremy Faubion’s classroom. Brigman is a Fair Grove alumni and is studying at SBU, and in his final semester.
In 2021, Brigman graduated from Fair Grove and was a part of the pep band and scholar bowl. He also did one year of JV soccer his sophomore year and was a SADD officer.
“It is nice to have someone you are familiar with instead of a complete stranger. Nate was a fantastic and well-rounded student in high school, and I know that will translate to his success as a student teacher…,” Faubion shared.
The Fair Grove High School Band even has a day dedicated to Brigman. The band celebrates his birthday every year even though he’s graduated and they do this by wearing all black since that was the same outfits he would wear when he was in high school.
The reason that he decided to student teach history was because of his enjoyment of learning about the subject and the depth that history provides for how the world is today.
“The main motivation behind why I want to teach comes from my excitement for history and my desire to get students as excited as my teachers made me. History can be very interesting and provides a lot of context for understanding how our world works, and I hope to convey that well as a teacher.”
Brigman explained that he decided to come back to Fair Grove to student teach was because the other schools he observed did not have the same type of positive impact that the district provided.
“The primary reason I returned to Fair Grove for my student teaching was because of the great environment that this school district cultivates.”
He added, “In my observation of other schools during my college studies I never saw the level of positivity as a district that Fair Grove has, so that really drew me to come back here…”
Faubion shared how well Brigman has taught so far in the school environment, “He is currently teaching through his first unit on his own. His lessons have been well thought out, and he has done well, especially for his first week.”
Brigman has started to teach the first unit on his own and is continuing to share his love for history through the lessons that he is teaching.
