Leila Huff is a senior at Fair Grove High School. Huff is involved in many different clubs and activities at Fair Grove, as well as holding leadership positions in several of those activities.
Huff is currently involved in volleyball. She also participates in and holds leadership roles in many clubs, such as an officer in SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions), a treasurer in DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), secretary in FFA (Future Farmers of America), vice president in Pep Club as well as being a member of NHS (National Honors Society) and FCA (Future Christians of America). Huff said, “I love getting to be a leader and put on events and meet so many new people.”
Huff has also accomplished many things within these clubs and sports. She stated, “I loved getting to be a part of the volleyball state championship. For FBLA, I got 5th in districts; in DECA districts, I qualified for state, and for the FFA Ag Sales team, I received the highest score for our team in our districts.

Huff said that during sports and clubs, she stays motivated by telling herself, “I won’t be in Fair Grove High School forever, so I better work hard and enjoy it while I’m here.”
The teacher that motivates Huff the most is high school English teacher Bailey Weaver. Huff explained, “Ms. Weaver has made a big impact on me in the short time she’s been here. She encouraged me so much last year, not only to work hard but also to enjoy the fun stuff.
Huff has set goals for herself from the beginning of freshman year to senior year. She shared her goal when she said, ”I set a goal my freshman year to receive Latin Honors at graduation, so I’m sticking to that and working hard to keep above a 4.0 GPA.” Huff added, “I also set a goal to have a ton of fun this year and include everyone the best I can.”
Tonya Peck, high school counselor, mentioned, “Leila has a heart of gold! She truly cares about others and wants what is best for those around her. And she is genuine!” Peck continued, “She stands firm in who she is and doesn’t compromise her faith, all while treating others with the utmost respect. This is a rarity and brings me joy to see!”
Dani Kepler, the head coach of the Fair Grove High School Volleyball team, said that Huff is a great leader and a role model for the younger players on and off the court. Kepler explained, “Lelia has a strong desire to improve her volleyball skills every day. With every touch at practice, I know she is striving for it to be better than the last.” Kepler continued, “Lelia has grown leaps and bounds as a defensive specialist for us the last four years and makes an impact by protecting our court and starting our offense with a great first contact in serve receive.”
A friend of Huff, senior Brenna Boatwright, stated that she is a great best friend and how she shows the love of Jesus everywhere she goes.
Huff said, “My faith is very important to me and the main reason that I stay so motivated and involved in everything. I want to meet as many people as I can and share what Jesus has done in my life. My main priority is just being a light at Fair Grove.”
