The annual Student Council (StuCo) buddy bidding has begun. Throughout the week students will bid on any member of  student council  they wish to make their personal buddy for a day. Whichever person puts forth the most money toward a StuCo buddy will be the winner, claiming the person to do any odd job they may wish to have done throughout the day the Buddy is rented out. Anyone in the school including students and teachers are allowed to bid.

StuCo buddy bidding begins December 3rd and goes throughout the week until December 11th.Winners will be announced at the end of the day, and will then be given their buddies the next upcoming school day. Buddies are expected to represent StuCo well and do their jobs with a good attitude of service. Haley Stallings (11) says she enjoys working to help raise money for StuCo events, but it isn’t always a joy to have to do all of this work on someone else’s say.

“. . . I am really hoping to not get a guy that makes me tell him how pretty he is and make me write him love notes all day” Haley says while talking about past years experience as a StuCo buddy.

Buddy bidding is still a pretty new thing. It’s only been going on for a couple of years. “While it has been really successful in the past, it is never really for certain much money will be made in the end. Me personally, I am sure to be worth at least fifty dollars!” Gus Irvine (12) says jokingly. All money raised goes to the upcoming high school courtwarming dance in January. “If we raise a lot of money we can have a cheaper charge for the dance’s admission tickets. Overall I think I am definitely worth a solid three bucks!”

“My favorite part of the whole week is just watching my friends make fools of themselves simply because they have to,” says Gus. While it is great having fun doing buddy week, the main goal is just to raise enough money for events that StuCo can help put on for the whole school.
