In the next game against Fair Play, the team came out with another victory with a 54-22 win. There were two players in double digits in this game too. Taylor Bell was the leading scorer with 18 points and Taylor Battenfield the second leading scorer with 11 points.

On January 17th, the team played in the championship game against Morrisville. This was the closest game of the three with the team coming out with 39-21 victory. This win over Morrisville clenched the first place plaque. Hill, who had two three pointers in this game, was the leading scorer with 14 points. The next leading scorers were Matia Hartley, with eight points, and Battenfield, with seven points.

“I thought we played better with each game we played in the tournament,” said Coach Faubion. He also added that the Fair Grove JV girls basketball team has won this tournament for the last five years.

Mikayla Yount commented about the game, “Getting three wins helps boost our teams confidence.” Yount continued, “My favorite part of the tournament was when Andrew Faubion got his first technical for not switching Makenna’s jersey number in the score book.”

“This tournament helped us work out problems with running our plays,” added Makenna, “My favorite part was getting to eat at the barbeque barn after the game against Hollister and when we were up against Fair Play and Me, Matia, and Taylor Battenfield sat on the bench and cheered for Jordan Coddington who finally shot the ball.”
